Questions to Ask Your Appraiser

Before your house appraisal, be sure to ask your appraiser about his or her years of experience. Find out if your appraiser is licensed or certified. Also inquire about his or her experience working in your neighborhood.

Find out where your appraiser is originally from and where he or she currently lives. The more familiarity the appraiser has with your neighborhood, the better. Also enquire if he or she knows your realtor.

For best results, interview the appraiser via telephone. Then make an appointment for a face-to-face meeting. Find out as much as you can about the appraiser in question prior to the appraisal.
